How Beba Pfresh Salsa was born! Hello, my name is Maria Silva originally from San Luis Potosí, Mexico. I have been in United States for many, many years. I worked for the State for nearly 20 years when I became passionate about creating and selling my family’s salsa recipe. In the summer of 2013, my husband’s company had an employee’s appreciation day with food, salsa contest and more. I made my salsa for the first time just for them to enjoy with their food. Next thing I knew my husband had entered my salsa in the salsa contest and it took first place! I knew then that I had something valuable to offer. Shortly afterwards, my daughter got sick and I had to stay home to take care of her. My husband’s co-workers were requesting the salsa daily. I began to think about selling the salsa. As I hesitated, my young daughter encouraged me by saying “why not mommy, you make very good salsa. You should try it.”. It was a Thursday, when I sent 5 jars of my salsa to my husband’s job to sell. About an hour later, he called to asked if I can make 5 more for the next day because they were all gone. The next week, he came home with an order list of 20 jars. Then the week after, the order was 40 jars. I decided to call the Health Department in Austin to get set up with the proper rules and regulations. Now we are in some small grocery stores and several farmer’s markets in Central Texas weekly and growing each month. Our brand name is BEBA. It is my nickname at home with my family. My husband has called me Beba for many years to show his love. When we were thinking of a name for our Salsa, after a 2 minutes of discussion he convinced me to stay with "Beba." Pfresh: Pflugerville is the city where I have lived the longest in my life and it also represent the freshness of my salsa in English. Salsa: The Spanish word representing the salsa that is coming from back home in Mexico. This is how Beba's Pfresh Salsa was born. Now our faithful customers keep Beba’s Pfresh Salsa alive and growing.
